The Glycemic Index & more…

There were more to join us at last nights meeting! It is so great to have you all in with us. If you have been thinking about joining, it’s not to late. You can jump in at any time, we are happy to have you.

Congratulations Jessica!!! I can’t wait to see who gets the award next week!

Just a few notes from last nights meeting…

  1. Turn off that TV when you are eating! Eat in the quiet so you can use your senses to enjoy your food.
  2. Don’t misuse and abuse your food. If you are craving some type of food eat it but don’t eat it every day.
  3. Eat when you are truly hungry not when the clock says so.
  4. Don’t over indulge yourself. Eat only until you are satisfied not stuffed.
  5. Take your time eating. Put your fork down in between bites of food and enjoy the good conversation with friends and family.
  6. It takes approx. 20 minutes for your mind to receive the message that you are satisfied so take your time and don’t eat fast. You may already be full and don’t know it!
  7. Are you hungry or are you really just thirsty?! Try a drink first and see.

Cory shared information about the Glycemic Index. As he stated last night, this index was implemented for those living with diabetes but it can be a very useful tool for those desiring to loose weight. It is not a weight loss program as a whole but good information to know. There is more information at http://www.glycemicindex.com/ regarding the glycemic index and how the sugar in particular foods can sabotage our weight loss goals and make us feel lousy to boot!

Speaking of sabotage
We are all aware of the enablers and sabotuers that dwell among our friends and family. Those people who mean well. They just want to make you happy. The holidays are coming and for some, nothing says lovin’ like somethin’ from the oven!  It is difficult to face these temptations but God told us in His Word,

1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Love these people in your life and understand that they more than likely don’t know what temptation they bring for you to do battle with.

Even though our flesh is weak and we do sometimes pick up that indulgent food the Lord God can and will give us control if we sincerely ask for it! Praise God!

See you next week!
Sandy

A Word from God Today…
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

We Are Ready…

We had our first meeting last night and it was great! There were some who didn’t make the class but we are having a class at 5:30pm this evening before prayer services and hope you can join us there.

It’s clear that this group is seeking an everlasting, life changing experience and we’re turning our back on excessiveness!

WOW!!!

We didn’t expect that kind of response to the A.R.E. You Ready? program! It is with mixed emotions we begin this class. It hurts to see so many people in bondage to food but it is exciting to see so many wanting to give it to God.

We will begin A.R.E. You Ready Week October 15th: keeping food, fitness and prayer journals. This is to log what you have been doing all along, nothing new! This will be a record of our past so we know where we came from.

With great anticipation and faith in the Lord to do this one more time! Let’s make it the last.

Until we meet!

Leah and Sandy
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:18 NIV
