F.A.Q.

“What does A.R.E. stand for?”
“A” = Admit to Admit your stronghold to sin, “R” = Repent to Repent of the sin, “E” = Equip to Equip yourself with the knowledge and faith to live a healthy lifestyle in order to serve the Lord.

“Can women and men join?”
Yes; men and women of any age are encouraged to participate!

“When is the first class scheduled?”
The first meeting will be on Tuesday; October 24, 2006 at 7:00pm in the SBBC fellowship hall.

“What is A.R.E. You Ready Week?”
On or before October 15, 2006 participants will be given (this is why we need to know who is likely to join) a journal. The days of October 15 – 21 you will complete a food, fitness and prayer journal daily to record current habits in these activities. Bring this journal with you to the first meeting on Tuesday; October 24, 2006 at 7:00pm in the fellowship hall.

“What will we be doing in this class?”
There are scriptures in the Bible that supports God’s desire for His children to care for their bodies and be available to follow Him. Many people have privately dealt with a stronghold to food for many years, just a few months or some even their whole lives. Why as Christians are we allowing ourselves to be taken over like this and actively participate in helping the enemy take siege of us? We will investigate why we eat, when we eat, how we eat, how much we eat and find faith in God to help us give these areas of our lives back to Him.

“What will we do at our first meeting?”
The first meeting will consist of weigh-in, measurements, setting lifetime and short term weight loss goals as well as personal dress/pant size goals. The group will look at God’s purpose for our lives; discuss the ministry mission statement; basic guidelines to get started; and a survey so we can see where you are in the war with food. There is a lot anticipated for this first night!

“Will I have to weigh in front of everyone?”
No; weigh-in will be done by either Leah or Sandy in a private room. This is necessary so an accurate weight loss/gain and a record of your achievements may be kept. Both, Leah and Sandy, are committed to your confidentiality and will not divulge your personal or weight loss information either discussed during weigh-in, private counseling, or group. All members and leaders will be asked to sign confidentiality statements to encourage an atmosphere of openness and sharing.

“Do I need to purchase anything to attend these meetings?”
Yes; however, all efforts have been made to control the costs of participating in this ministry. You will only need a 3-ring binder for your personal journal. You are asked to bring this to each meeting and materials for each class will be provided by the leaders.  If you prefer to have a book see Leah or Sandy.

“Are we going to exercise?”
Yes and No; this is not solely a physical exercise class but it will be encouraged due to its importance in successful and retained weight loss and body toning. Physical exercise will not be introduced for the first few weeks of class in order to give everyone an opportunity to become accustomed to their new food lifestyle. Opportunities have been discussed for physical exercise and will be shared with the group at a later date. We will however be practicing spiritual and mental exercises from the beginning of this class.

“I may not be able to attend all meetings because of my work schedule; can I still join?”
Yes; if you have the desire to make a change in your life we’re there for you! See Leah or Sandy and a weigh-in and/or counseling can be scheduled for you separately from the group.

“Can I join if I didn’t make the first meeting?”
Yes; this is an open class and can be started at any time.

“How long will this class last?”
This will be ongoing unless everyone loses all of their weight. That would be awesome!
